glock binary trigger jsd

Glock Binary Trigger Jsd - SHOT Show Range Day was buzzing about the mic thrown by Franklin Armory. They discovered a Glock binary trigger. Yes, what you read was right. A pull/release trigger is made for use on a Glock. We took a close look at the show floor and shot it on set day.

When Franklin Armory came out with their binary trigger, it was always a dream to have one for a Glock. Until now it seems impossible. Well, the engineers at Franklin Armory did. Life finds a way. The Glock trigger is called the G-S173.

Franklin Armory will make their Glock binary trigger for the Glock 17, but it won't be a simple trigger swap. To have a Glock binary trigger, they perform some magic with the slide to make the trigger work. So when you buy a Glock rail it comes with a slide and trigger. You must provide your own barrel, frame and recoil spring.

You can see that the Glock binary slide is not the same as a regular Glock 17 OEM slide. There are cutouts in the slide to accommodate the magic.

Like their other binary triggers, the Glock binary trigger will have a selector switch. There is a rotary selector switch on the left side of the slide. Flip it for single pull shots. Flip it down for binary drag/drop mode.

Franklin Armory has two prototypes on hand. This one below is the best prototype with the optical cutout at the top.

Below are other prototypes. They are not sure if they will offer an optical cut or not, it is still up to them to decide. I hope they do. They also explore sliding cut options.

I also shot it on Range Day. I found the trigger a little different than what I'm used to. But it works. I also videoed a slow motion close-up of the trigger to see how it moves when manipulated in binary mode. There are some interesting things I learned about this high speed trigger.

If you watch the slow motion footage carefully, you can see the trigger reset in two stages of release. It advances about halfway and the striker is freed to fire the next round. Then, when the slide is finished reciprocating, the trigger jumps forward to its final position, where you continue to pull the trigger again for the next shot.

Franklin Armory plans to sell the Glock G-S173 binary for $899. While some may have sticky shocks, keep in mind that a regular binary trigger is around $300 and an HK binary trigger is $700. This makes the slide $199 extra. You still need to supply your barrel and recoil spring. They are planning for a Q2 release date.
